In case you’re keeping score at home, my very favorite Building in Chicago is the Carbide & Carbon Building. Now it has been convertd to a hotel, originally to the Hard Rock Hotel & now the St. Jane. These specific photos are from my 2012 visit. Many folks who only take a casual glance assume the building is black, but the terra cotta is actually a rich deep green. The gold top was to help the building intentionally resemble a bottle of champagne.
